The City of Pleasanton is providing a FREEintroductory virtual workshop which discusses how eligible households living and/or working in the City of Pleasanton could participate in purchasing one of these BMR homes. Additional topics the workshop covers include:
- Down payment assistance subsidies – Up to a$70,000 in down payment assistance subsidies is available for eligible households purchasing the two bedroom BMR.
- Free homebuyer education and counseling - offered through a HUD approved homebuyer education provider and BAAHA.

The introductory virtual zoom Pleasanton BMR workshop will be held at 6:00PM to 7:30PM Tuesday May 27, 2025. Reservations are required to secure a zoom link to participate in the workshop.

Topics Covered at the Workshop
The Pleasanton Below Market Rate (BMR) workshop will provide attending households further information regarding:
- How to prepare for and take advantage of purchasing a Pleasanton Below Market Rate (BMR) home.
- Homebuyer assistance subsidies made available to eligible households through the City of Pleasanton and partnering subsidy funding sources
- First time homebuyer education and counseling requirements and opportunities.
- Pleasanton BMR and subsidy program purchase requirements and restrictions, including and not limited to: requirements to be considered a first time homebuyer, maximum household income allowances, credit scores, down payment requirements, maximum housing cost allowances, maximum subsidy allowances, and program participant preferences.
- Required steps Program participants must take to purchase a BMR and to secure subsidy funding, including:
* How to secure required HUD approved homebuyer education and counseling
* The Program applications process
* Working with a 1st lender to get a 1st mortgage pre-approval
* The BMR and subsidy Program pre-approval and final program approval process
Workshop Presenters and Sponsors
The Pleasanton BMR Workshop is being hosted and presented by the City of Pleasanton, Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA) and A-1 Community Housing Services. Speakers at the workshop will include: Steve Hernandez, the Housing Manager City of Pleasanton; Nancy Rivera, the Executive Director of A-1 Community Housing Services; and Walter Zhovreboff, the Administrative Director of BAAHA.
There will be a questions and answer session for attendants to participate in after the presentation.
