The City of Antioch, in conjunction with the Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA), are hosting a free HUD approved homebuyer education workshop. This HUD approved workshop fulfills the requirements for Antioch households to submit an application to participate in the City of Antioch’s Home Ownership Program (AHOP). Resources made available through AHOP and its partners can provide up to $131,000 in downpayment assistance subsidies for eligible first time homebuyers to purchase a home in Antioch.
The workshop is scheduled over three Zoom sessions delivered from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, commencing on Tuesday, November 14 through Thursday November 16, 2023. Attendants must attend all three sessions to obtain their HUD Homebuyer Education Certificate.
Information covered in the homebuyer education workshop will include (and not be limited to):
- Preparation to become a homebuyer/owner– topics covered will include and not be limited to: budgeting; credit requirements and management; and considerations to take into account prior to embarking upon the home purchase process.
- Home Purchase Steps – topics covered will include, and not be limited to:
- Additional Insight on the Antioch Home Ownership Program (AHOP) – BAAHA will provide additional information on AHOP subsidy resources, Program eligibility requirements, and the next steps to apply for AHOP subsidies.

Free HUD Approved Homebuyer Education Workshop
The workshop is being taught by A-1 Community Housing Services (A-1 CHS). A-1 CHS is an East Bay HUD approved homebuyer education and counseling provider. In addition to delivering homebuyer education, A-1 CHS also provides valuable first time homebuyer counseling. To secure a HUD homebuyer certificate, all workshop attendants must also receive one hour of free homebuyer pre-purchase counseling.
