UPCOMING AC BOOST EVENTS!

IMPORTANT REMINDER REGARDING HAYWARD AC BOOST WORKSHOP ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 17, 2019:  Due to delays in the ongoing development of the AC Boost program, the dates for the Hayward workshop (Thursday, January 17, 2019), and Hayward HUD-certified education seminar (Saturday, February 9, 2019) are being changed. There will be no events on Thursday, January 17, 2019 or Saturday, February 9, 2019. These events are not cancelled, but are being rescheduled. You do not need to sign up again. Your sign-up has been received and processed by BAAHA. By signing up, you have opted in to receive important updates about AC Boost program development and events, such as this one.

Alameda County has allocated funds to help promote homeownership for households who live and/or work anywhere within Alameda County. Only one person in a household is required to live or work in the County limits. AC Boost breaks its funding into two categories. Households who have combined incomes that are equal to or less than 100% of the County’s Area Median Income (AMI) will be eligible for up to a $150,000 subsidy. Households between 100% and 120% of the County’s AMI will be eligible for up to a $100,000 subsidy. Seventy five (75) eligible households will be entered into the AC Boost down payment assistance lottery.

AC Boost HUD-Certified Homebuyer Education - ACBHEdu191 & ACBSLEdu191

Certified homebuyer education will be required to submit a prescreen application to BAAHA. A homebuyer education certificate is also a part of the eligibility requirements for the AC Boost program. BAAHA will be coordinating HUD-certified education events for both Hayward and San Leandro. Details have not yet been set, but since space is limited at homebuyer education seminars, we encourage you to sign-up to be placed on a wait list. BAAHA will send you an update with event details, such as date, time, and place, as well as a reminder about the event.

AC Boost Introductory Workshops - ACBWH19 & ACBWSL19

We also would like to invite all interested Hayward and San Leandro residents, employers, employees, civic-org staff, etc. to attend a 2 hour introductory workshop. BAAHA will be hosting 2 separate workshops for each city. Keep in mind that this is notthe HUD-certified homebuyer education. At this workshop, you will have a chance to meet key program partners, administrators, and educators.

BAAHA AC Boost Prescreening

Once one has completed their homebuyer education from a HUD-certified hombuyer education provider, they may submit a prescreen application to BAAHA. The prescreen application is not the application for the AC Boost program, but is used by BAAHA to determine if a household is eligible to particiapte in the AC Boost lottery, and/or if a household is eligible for free homebuyer counseling offered by the city. BAAHA's AC Boost prescreen application will require a valid homebuyer certificate to be attached. BAAHA will only review applications once a homebuyer education certificate has been provided. BAAHA is scheduling 4 (2 in Hayward, 2 in San Leandro) certified homebuyer education seminars.

Homebuyer Counseling

Not to be confused with homebuyer education, counseling is conducted by a HUD-certified agency, on a one-on-one basis. Some AC Boost households may be eligible for free homebuyer counseling. Homebuyer counseling varies slightly between agencies, but may cover a variety of topics, such as credit recovery, debt management, budgeting, saving, and other topics to help you prepare for homeownership.
